Christopher Tenney and the Godwin Green Roofing team believe in giving back to the community that has supported them for over 50 years. Through partnerships with local organizations and the University of Florida, Godwin has helped provide free roofing to homeowners in need throughout Gainesville and Alachua County.
Community Programs
Rebuilding Together
Owner Christopher Tenney has completed six 'Rebuilding Together' charity roofs as lead supervisor of volunteer crews. Rebuilding Together provides free home repairs to low-income homeowners, veterans, and people with disabilities to help them live safely and independently. Godwin provides the roofing expertise, supervision, and labor to make these projects possible.
Boots on the Roof — NCFRA
As president of the North Central Florida Roofing Association (NCFRA), Christopher Tenney helps organize 'Boots on the Roof' — an annual program that selects two Gainesville-area homeowners at Christmas to receive a complete free re-roof. All materials and labor are donated by NCFRA member companies. To date, the NCFRA has completed five complete re-roofs for local homeowners who cannot afford to replace their roofs themselves.
University of Florida — Rinker School of Construction
Several times a year, Christopher Tenney teams up with the University of Florida Rinker School of Construction to help organize, educate, and supervise UF students in completing an entire re-roof project for local homeowners who cannot afford to fix their roofs themselves. Chris brings real-world roofing expertise into the classroom and onto the job site, helping the next generation of Florida contractors learn the trade hands-on.
